Knives and sets
What’s in the Complete Set?
Gyuto Kaen 20 cm, Nakiri Kaen 18 cm and Petty Kaen 9 cm, each with its protective sheath. They’re the three pieces that cover any recipe: the Gyuto for meat, fish and most of the work; the Nakiri so vegetables come out in perfect slices; the Petty for peeling and details.
Why does the set cost less than the knives separately?
Because we want you to start with the full kit. Separately they add up to €289.85; the Complete Set costs €219.95. You save almost €70 and skip the decision.
What’s the difference between the three sets?
The Essential Set (Gyuto + Petty) is the starting point: one big knife and one small. The Complete Set adds the Nakiri for vegetables and is the one we recommend to almost everyone. The Master Collection includes all six knives: Gyuto, Nakiri, Santoku, Bunka, Kiritsuke and Petty.
How do the sets work in the store?
On the home page, under Kaen sets, tap the button for the set you want: its knives go into the cart in one go and the set discount applies automatically. You can also add the knives one by one and enter the set code (SETESENCIAL, SETCOMPLETO or COLECCIONMAESTRO) in the cart or at checkout.
What is each knife for?
Gyuto (20 cm): the chef’s knife, for almost everything. Nakiri (18 cm): straight edge, the vegetable specialist. Santoku (18 cm): the light all-rounder. Bunka (18 cm): a santoku with a precision tip. Kiritsuke (20 cm): straight spine for push cuts, fish and sashimi. Petty (9 cm): precision, peeling and details. If in doubt, take the 30-second quiz.
Are they suitable for beginners?
Yes. A good knife is what improves your cooking fastest: you cut with less effort and more safely. The Santoku, with its rounded tip, is especially easy to master.
Care
How do I look after them?
Wash them by hand with warm water, dry them straight away and keep them in their sheath. Never in the dishwasher. A few strokes on a honing rod or stone every few weeks keeps the edge like day one.
